Review of Piano Scale Mnemonics by Andrew Eales on the Pianodao website. Andrew is a renowned teacher, mentor, writer and published composer. He is also the administrator for the Piano Network UK Facebook page.

“This book has been a revelation for me. I'm not 'musical' or talented at the piano and I've been really struggling to remember the various scales (only for Grade 3!) and for me, this book is so clever and simple that suddenly it all seems soooooo much easier. Now I can do them without struggling. Even my long long long suffering piano teacher (the woman needs a medal for not shooting me years ago) thinks it's a fabulous book and is recommending it to her other students. After 7 years of weekly lessons I now could be in real danger of actually passing a piano grade......”

“For my students I previously created a paper template that helped them to find the correct fingering easily when looking at the notes on the piano. I am currently updating those paper charts - I now reference your mnemonics as we use your books to get started. The mnemonics really help and the students love those!”

Maggie (piano teacher)

“I am not a teacher but bought this book and found it really useful.”

How did people learn scales before this book? Piano Scale Mnemonics is an essential buy for anyone wanting to master their scales. The book offers clear and helpful tips and guidance with the added benefit of beautifully illustrated mnemonics to help you memorise each of the scales. Used by both myself and my daughter it has something to offer all ages.

“I started learning piano about 3 years ago and had learned some scales but this new book has consolidated these and has made learning new ones easier and more fun. The grouping and illustrations are a great way to help visualise the mnemonics which are very logical and so good. This is a great book for me as an adult to learn and remember new scales and younger students will equally enjoy and benefit from the fun side of the book.”

I found this a great and fun aid to mastering scales, arpeggios and broken chords – not something I really enjoy!  A very well laid out book with easy to remember mnemonics!

“I have returned to piano tuition after a long time away from it and was quite daunted about having to re-learn scales. This book takes away much of the pain of that, with a simple but yet effective system based on Mnemonics. It is very clearly laid out and I am sure will appeal to learners of all ages.”
